Cut-to-Length Sheets and Blanks
Cut-to-Length Steel Processing in Grand Rapids, Michigan
H&H Metal Source provides cut-to-length processing for flat rolled steel, producing sheets and precision blanks to customer-specified widths and lengths.
Our cut-to-length capabilities are well suited for Michigan manufacturers that require consistent dimensions, excellent flatness, and material ready for downstream stamping, forming, bending, or fabrication.
Cut-to-Length Capabilities
| Thickness Range | .021″ – .125″ |
| Width Range | 3″ – 60″ |
| Length Range | 12″ – 146″ |
| Length Tolerance | As tight as ±.015″ |
| Packaging | Skidded or blocked |
H&H cuts cold rolled steel (CR), hot rolled pickled and oiled steel (HRPO), galvanized steel, and galvannealed steel to length. See the full list of grades and specifications on our steel products page.
Precision Tolerance Blanks
H&H produces precision cut-to-length blanks with length tolerances as tight as ±.015″. These tight-tolerance blanks are particularly well suited for:
| Transfer press operations | Panel bender operations | Precision forming |
| Stamping applications | Fabricated components requiring consistent blank dimensions | |
Supplying material at or close to the finished blank dimensions can help manufacturers maintain consistency in downstream operations and reduce additional material handling, processing, and scrap.
Custom Blank Sizes to Maximize Material Yield
While H&H stocks standard 48″ and 60″ wide material, custom widths for high-volume production applications are a specialty.
Rather than starting with a standard-width sheet and accepting the resulting scrap, we can work with your finished part or blank dimensions to determine a material width and cut length that better fits your application.
For high-volume production, even a small improvement in material utilization can significantly reduce scrap and lower the amount of steel required to produce each finished part.
Cut-to-Length Questions
What is the longest sheet H&H can cut?
H&H cuts sheets and blanks from 12″ to 146″ long, in widths from 3″ to 60″ and thicknesses from .021″ to .125″.
How tight are H&H blank length tolerances?
Length tolerances are held as tight as ±.015″, which supports transfer press, panel bender, and precision forming operations that depend on consistent blank dimensions.
What is the difference between a sheet and a blank?
A sheet is cut to a standard or customer-specified rectangular size. A blank is cut to dimensions matched to a specific finished part, so it arrives ready to run with less trim and scrap.
Can H&H cut a custom blank size instead of a standard sheet?
Yes. Custom widths and cut lengths for high-volume production are a specialty. Give us your finished part dimensions and we will work back to a material size that improves your yield.
How is cut-to-length material packaged?
Sheets and blanks are packaged skidded or blocked, depending on the size of the material and how it needs to be handled at your facility.
Does H&H cut galvanized steel to length?
Yes. H&H cuts galvanized and galvannealed steel to length along with cold rolled and HRPO material.
